Troop 226 was founded in October of 1977. It is the oldest Boy Scout Troop in The Colony. We are part of the Orion District in the Longhorn Council.

Since 1977, many boys have come through the program. Our first Eagle Scout received his Eagle award in 1980. Over 50 boys and counting have earned the rank of Eagle in our Troop. While we encourage Scouts to reach this goal, it is not our only goal. We encourage all of our Scouts to explore the things that interest them, learn the values that Scouting teaches and to have FUN!

We do have an excellent Trail to First Class (TFC) program that helps new Scouts get through their first four rank badges. TFC classes are held during the first 30 minutes of every regular Troop meeting, starting at 7:00.

Troop 226 is very involved in our community, giving service to others in many ways. Such as helping with community events, cleaning up parks, food drives and more. We even take time to help our younger Scouting brothers in Cub Scouts with their events.

We go camping at least once a month, about 10 months out of the year. We often do something a little different in December and June or July, such as lock-ins, picnics or other fun activities. We always go to a weeklong Summer Camp, the boys choose where we go each year. Sometimes we also attend Winter Camp and other high adventure camps such as Philmont and Seabase.

We are chartered through the American Legion Post 21 in The Colony. We meet at First United Methodist Church of The Colony.  They are very kind to give our Troop a place to meet, store equipment and do many activities. While the church provides us with space, they do not require members of the Troop to be members of the church. We welcome any and all people of any faith, race and so on...There is a place for everyone in our Troop!

Troop 226G was founded in 2020 to give girls in The Colony and surrounding cities the opportunity to learn and grow through the Scouts BSA program.  We are linked to the boys’ Troop 226B, but meet separately with our own scout leadership. We are a scout-led troop chartered by The American Legion Post 21 in The Colony.

Troop 226G meets weekly on Monday nights in The Colony at the First United Methodist Church when school is in session. We camp once a month to local destinations, as well as summer camp and high adventure opportunities.
